Mesa in SM Mall of Asia is their 43rd store. Managing Director of MESA Philippines Mr. Eric Dee says that “Our ingredients are delivered to the store and prepared daily. We make sure that MESA serves the best quality and freshest ingredients to our guests. In our SM Mall of Asia branch, we encourage you to enjoy the many fresh seafood and best seller dishes we have to offer.”
In this branch, there’s a total of 80 seats and an alfresco dining area for 30 guests. Its rattan accents, wood finished tables, distinct lighting fixtures, and other details reminiscent of classic Filipino houses. No doubt it is truly homey.
We were able to try most of their Seafood offerings and I can attest that its indeed fresh and cooked nicely. You can even watch it being prepared right into your eyes.
Tofu Salad – soft bean curd topped with Century egg and shrimp with sweet soy-based sauce.
Tinapa Roll – flaked smoked fish with tomato onion and salted egg wrapped in lettuce.
Crab in Salted Egg – this is what I had the whole time. The way it was cooked was perfect. It tasted savory, salty and a little bit sweet.
Suahe on the Rocks – river shrimp cooked tableside on extremely hot lava.
Salt-Crusted Apahap – Seabass baked in rock salt to preserve moisture in the fish.
Crispy Boneless Tilapia – with 4 different sauces. The presentation was appetizingly gorgeous.
Inihaw Sampler – grilled chicken leg quarter, squid, liempo, bangus belly, mussels, shrimps and pork BBQ.
Crispchon – Juicy and flavorful rendition of suckling pig served in 2 ways; wrapped in Malunggay crepe or tossed in chili-garlic.
If you’re craving for some good Filipino dishes, I recommend Mesa Filipino Moderne. They surely provide Filipino dishes served the way we wanted, fresh, delicious and with a little modern twist.
