As you know, I love seafood a lot and I think this is the food that I will never grow tired of eating. So, I was ecstatic to try this newly opened restaurant in McKinley, Isla Sugbu. They started in Cebu way back the ’80s but changed their name in 2015 now to its current.
The ambiance is very posh unlike the other that I’m used to. This is well ventilated, air-conditioned and is huge. This could cater to big groups. I liked the small bulbs that are well decorated and also, the paintings that’ll make you feel like you’re on an island.
On this area, here’s where you can select the seafood you’re craving for, tell them how you want it to be cooked, sit down and relax while waiting for your food. Enjoy!
Aside from seafood, there is meat available as well such as Chicken, Pork, and Beef. I know that when it comes to the grill, there should always be Liempo, right? 😀
We got to try some of the Sugbu Specials. That’s 6 newly added dishes to their menu.
Black Pepper Crab – The peppery taste added a bit spicy kick to the crab. This is really good.
Salt and Pepper Calamari – Love the crispiness of this dish even if it was already cold. It was salty yet perfectly cooked. Tender and gummy at the same time. A must-try.
Salted Egg Shrimp – Shrimp would always be my top favorite. I love that the Salted Egg was not overwhelming. It was just right.
Salmon Sinigang – perfect for the weather. It has that sour taste that complimented the Salmon.
Baked Scallops with Cheese and Butter – A crowd’s favorite. The scallops were cooked perfectly, add some melted cheese and voila! It is indeed addicting.
Grilled Tuna Steak – tender and well seasoned tuna it is.
Tuna Skewers
Salted Egg Crabs – I liked that the Salted Egg wasn’t that strong.
Baby Squid Adobo – Love how they cook this comfort food. This is one of my favorites here, too. It was soft yet gummy – just the way I wanted it.
Sweet and Sour Lapu-Lapu – Crispy Lapu-Lapu it is. I liked that the sauce has a balanced flavor.
Guso Salad
Pancit – That’s loaded with toppings. One of the best pancit there is.
After the meal, it is nice to have a cup of Halo-Halo.
Note that there’s a no left-over policy. There will be a charge of Php 1,450 per person.
