As you know, Chef Robert started their restaurant journey 10 years ago. They’ve been in the business long enough to know what Filipino usually crave about – and that is comfort food. The first branch being in Quezon City, they transferred to a new place in Annapolis, San Juan making it easier for people in the area to have a taste of Filipino Fusion food.
First thing you’d notice when you enter the room are the displays that somewhat resembles to what you normally see at home. Wooden frames, and other paraphernalia which will make you feel like your lounging just at the comfort of your own home.
For the food, we were first served with Salad Rolls in Kani Mango (Php145 solo | Php245 regular)
Fresh Ripe Mango, Crab Stick, Carrot, Cucumber, drizzled with some Japanese Mayo and Mango syrup. This is a great play on Filipino-Japanese dish. I love the combination of sweetness and saltiness in it.
Mushroom Fritters (Php195) – a healthy alternative to your Chicharon. This is a great way to enjoy Fritters guilt-free. This was crispy in every bite. Dip in vinegar for balanced flavor.
Bangus Sisig (Php205 regular | Php325 big) – Probably my top favorite dish here in Chef Robert. The Bangus meat was crisp and well marinated. It was perfectly flavored too.
Tofu Sisig on Eggplant Torta (Php265) – Another hit for me. The smoky flavor underneath brings out more aroma to the Tofu. I can definitely say, they beat Max’s on this one.
Bicol Express Pasta (Php225) – At first I was hesitant to try this as I am not sure if the Bicol Express would go well with Pasta but surprisingly, it did! I am thankful that there’s not much bagoong taste so it blended pretty well.
Crispy Kare-Kare (Php345) – I love how crispy the Liempo was and that it was not drenched on its sauce. The sauce was thick and creamy, too. Perfectly made! To me, this is two different dish already. Both tasted amazing!
Alamang Fried Rice (Php175) – Enjoy this rice in most dry viands available.
Crispy Embutido with Egg (Php205) – I would prefer this as breakfast but you can have this anytime of the day. That’s crispy Embutido with Rice and Egg.
It tasted a bit sweet like most of the Embutido I’ve tasted. There was nothing spectacular in this dish, really but it still tasted good.
Coffee Jelly (Php140) – What better way to end a meal. That’s Coffee Jelly topped with Vanilla Ice Cream.
We had a wonderful time here in Chef Roberts and I would definitely be back with friends and family in tow.
