Camp Curry: now camping at Ayala Malls Manila Bay serving Japanese dishes

Camping is something that I enjoyed doing over the past years. That feeling of being one with nature, away from the city noise, and just focus on people that you’re with, enjoying good conversations under the moon and stars or beside the sea and of course, you gotta have good food, too.
It’s my first time to dine here at Camp Curry and they now have their second branch here at Ayala Malls Manila Bay. The ambiance is very laid back. You’d feel like you’re camping with its wooden dividers, tables, and stools, along with the colorful buntings, and pine trees painted on its walls. It all gives you that relaxing feeling already.
It kind of brings you back to that feeling of camping as there are camping gears on display, even its spoon and fork look like that of tiny shovels, plus the water is placed in a thermos.
The open kitchen was just perfect as the fire and all that sizzling sounds made it feel as I’m in the woods. Also, I found out when I’m reading Camp Curry’s menu, that Takashi Sato– the founder, initially sells fresh vegetables and a healthy menu in an alley of Yoyogi, Tokyo in 2007. Then, the locals and tourists liked the idea and they gained followers that’s cause there’s live cooking that serves as entertainment, too.
I tell you, there are just too much food here. From grilled, to fry, seafood and pork, beef, chicken, fresh salads – they have it! You will never run out of dishes here.
And the way they cook it is on point. The meat were all tender and flavored well and the curry- perfect!
Spicy Nachos (Php250) – crispy nacho chips layered with melted cheddar cheese, and lean ground beef, tipped with cherry tomatoes, cilantro and Cajun spice mix
Nope! Not really spicy to me which I liked. I was able to enjoy all its flavors without worrying if I’d burn my mouth. This ones a real good Nachos.
Camp Salad (Php220) – an assortment of crisp greens and cucumber. Topped with special homemade tomato aurora curry dressing
Curry Katsu (Php299) – this comes with rice and choice of curry
Curry Ebi Fry (Php330) – come with rice as well, and your choice of curry
BBQ Pork Belly and Brown Keema Curry (Php330) Flamed grilled meaty pork belly basted in special BBQ sauce. Served with fully loaded chunky vegetables. Best paired with the best selling Tokyo original brown Keema curry.
Onigiri– Japanese stuffed rice sandwich. They 3 flavors such as pork curry, pork teriyaki and spam onigiri
Beef Yakiniku (Php190) – thin slices of beef well marinated in special sauce
Tori Toriyaki Don (Php190) – tender and smoky grilled chicken in teriyaki sauce
Dining in a group? There are Group Meals available that’s really affordable.
Camp Wings Platter (Php800) – good for 3-4 pax which includes wafu salad, steamed rice, lemonade and vanilla ice cream.
Japanese curry might be milder than the other countries out there but to me, this is perfect to my palate. There are five curry bases to choose from paired to your order. But we got the ones that we though would be good pair to our food.
Cheese Curry Series – Japanese curry topped with mozzarella and Parmesan
Brown Keema Curry – Tokyo original curry base mixed with minced chicken
Camp’s S’mores Special (Php120) – toasted marshmallows on a layer of graham biscuits with chocolate syrup. Served with matcha ice cream and candy sprinkles.
This is one good dessert. It would be great to share with kids. I just wish that that the chocolate syrup at the bottom would be saucy.
