Crying Tiger – a taste of Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in the street of Poblacion

Crying Tiger is an affordable and playful restaurant that focuses on Asian street food, from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur.  They also have an extensive vegetarian menu.

Crying Tiger was actually a dish in Thailand.  This is made of beef and the reason why it was called as such was that when the Tiger tasted the dish, it made him cry.  That’s how the owner explains the name of the restaurant.  They probably wanted give that same effect of their food to their customers.

The place was small but they have al fresco to which I think is much better to enjoy your order.

We were served the following:

Som Tam Thai Green Papaya Salad  (Php165) – A refreshing shredded Papaya, Onions and more.  The Salted Egg added a salty flavor to it.

Mee Goreng (Php240) – Spicy Seafood Noodles.  Just look at that generous amount of Seafood and meat in there.  It was savory and just really delicious.

Gai Tod Thai Fried Chicken (Php82 per piece) – The potato rice flour gave that nice crunch to this Chicken.  It was cooked perfectly, too, making the Chicken tender and juicy.  This is perfect pair to the Pad Thai, Mee Goreng or Rice.

Chicken Satay (Php175) – There’s a gingery taste in this hence the color.  It tasted great with the peanut sauce.

Pad Thai Woon Sen (Php240)- Thai Stir fried glass noodles.  I am in-love with Pad Thai and this I find their Pad Thai scrumptious in every noodle!

MooPing Thai Pork BBQ (Php35 per stick) – It was well marinated.  It was juicy and mouthful, too.

Thai Iced Tea (Php100) – I like that this does not have that strong tea taste.  It was balanced with its milk.

I strongly suggest to at least try their dishes.  It was comforting and will make you appreciate the food that Southeast Asia offers.  You can also reminisce if you’ve been to some countries, too.
