Sariwon -Korean Barbecue that offers premium meat

Sariwon Korean Barbecue is a popular restaurant in Korea that serves traditional Bulgogi.  Currently, there’s two branches here in Manila.  One here in BGC and the other in Greenhills, Promenade.  They may not be the usual Korean BBQ that we know that offers unlimited meat but I tell you, that they do have premium meat and delicious side dishes.  We were able to try their Deluxe Grill Set for 4 during our visit.

But first, let me tell you how I love the ambiance of Sariwon here in BGC.   Having hues of orange and white,  it sure looks neat and indeed very pleasant to the eyes.  With wooden walls and tables,  it has that typical Korean dining set-up just like what we see on TV.  All the tables, chairs and couches are well-maintained as it still look new to this date.  I also like that they have lamps to each and every table.  Nevertheless,  the ambiance is hip, sophisticated and modern.

You might be looking for an exhaust hanging on the ceiling, but Sariwon has smokeless grill, so you do not need to worry what you will be smelling like when you stepped out.

Here, food will be cooked for you but if you want to do it yourselves, you may do so.  They have friendly and accommodating staff as well.  I also like that they’re very knowledgeable on the dishes that they serve.  Feel free to ask them what was being served to you and they’ll be more than willing to explain.

There’s 7 banchan placed on our table.  There are Peanuts, Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Mash, Spinach, Cucumber, Radish Kimchi, and Cabbage Kimchi.  All tasted good but what stood out to me the most was the Salad. I really love it.  The dressing was well balanced. All the vegetables were refreshing. I probably had 4 plates of this.  Also, the Kimchi wasn’t the usual spicy-sour in flavor.  It actually has mild flavors that’ll make you want more.

Start the meal with the Doenjang Chigae.  This soybean paste stew has available ingredients such as vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, seafood and meat. Careful as this is a bit spicy.

Now for the meat,  there’s traditional non-marinated and then there’s modern Korean that is marinated with flavors.

Every meat melts-in-your-mouth!  The marinated and non-marinated were both great, in my opinion.  But to me,  I prefer the non-marinated ones as I love to put and manipulate the flavor I put on the meat.

Haemul Pajeon – a traditional Korean pancake made with squid, shrimp, mussels and green onions. They don’t skimp on seafood here.  This would be my favorite Pajeon there is.

We really had a great time dining here.  I say it again and I’ll say it one more time,  Sariwon and Soban are both on my top favorite Korean restaurants in the Metro.
