Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse – fall-of-the-bone ribs and more…

Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse is a second branch located in UP Town Center.  It has a modern industrial design with loads of yellow lights that makes the place look warm and homey.  This restaurant started as a small concept restaurant.  Their family definitely loves to eat and they wanted to share what they’ve had in the US.

The siblings found the love for food and travel.  They wanted to take the American style of barbecue in Manila and that’s how it all began.  They opened their first branch in Marikina at their very own  backyard and now, they have a new branch here in UP Town Center.

Here’s what we tried:

Jera’s Ultimate Pulled Pork and Bacon Nachos (1/2 serving) (Php330) – Layers and layers of barbecue nachos, smoked pulled pork, smoked bacon, salsa, jalapeno, all drizzled with their homemade cheese sauce, barbecue sauce and Alabama sauce.  From that photo, you can really tell that their serving is generous.  The homemade sauces really made this special.

Buttermilk Fried Livers (Php210) – I don’t usually eat liver but this ones made me eat a lot.  I was not able to taste any bitterness from.  It was crunchy and really good with the dip, too.

Bacon Mac and Cheese Poppers (Php195) – At first, I thought these balls were made of Potatoes but it’s actually Macaroni Pasta, Bacon and Cheese.  Dip it in their homemade tomato sauce and you actually get a Mac and Cheese.  It was fried to perfection and has that crisp on the outside and soft macaroni inside.  I highly recommend this as an appetizer here in Fat Daddy’s.

Chef’s Pat Ultimate Cheese Dip (Php250) – Oh! I can still remember the smell.  It was savory and full of wonderful flavors in that skillet.  This is really perfect if you’re a cheese lover.  There’s beef strips, onions, with loads of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.  This has bacon on top, too.  I also appreciated the tortilla chips were really crispy,too.

Chicken Wings (Php245) – There’s five flavors to choose from. They have Honey BBQ, Honey Mustard, Classic Buffalo, Honey Sriracha, and Salted Egg.

Everything tasted great. I was amazed that it was still crispy even if it waited for some time. Each one has an amazing flavor and what I liked about it was it not only stayed on the batter but on the meat, as well.  My favorite would be the Honey BBQ and Salted Egg.

Smoked Pork Ribs (Php1,750 whole) – Dry rubbed St. Louis cut pork-ribs, slow smoked for 8 hours, grilled to finish served with pickles and coleslaw.  It was tender and fall-off-the-bone. Really tasty and full of smoking flavor.

Smoked Meat Platter (Php2,400.00) – Every meat pretty much have the same flavors.  I really can’t tell if there’s much of a difference but one thing I am sure of, is that I loved all the meats on this platter.  The brisket was fork-tender. Meats were all juicy, too.

Smoked Hot Links – homemade sausages stuffed with pork and spices slow smoked for 4 hours
Smoked Pulled Pork Shoulders – dry-rubbed pork shoulder slow smoked for 4 hours, pulled and shredded directly after smoking
Smoked Beef Brisket – dry-rubbed beef brisket slow smoked for 12 hours
Smoked Chicken BBQ – overnight brine chicken thigh fillet smoked for 4 hours and grilled to finish

This Platter will definitely wreck your diet.  Everything tasted wild and delicious.

Desserts:

I swear, everything tasted decadent .  Each one was heavenly and addicting that even if you’re full, you will still have to have some.  But my favorite would be the Pecan Pie.

Pecan Pie (Php250.00) – That buttery pastry crushed pie filled with mixture of egg yolk, brown sugar and chopped pecans baked perfectly topped with roasted pecans.  Aah! The best.

Peach Cobbler (Php250.00) – baked peach slices with streusel, topped with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream, drizzled with caramel sauce.

Caramel Drizzled Banana Pudding (Php170.00) – mix of butter bread milk eggs and fresh banana. Also topped with homemade vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Bacon and S’Mores Dip (Php250.00) – sweet chocolate gaanche, mixed with smoked bacon bits, layered with melted marshmallows served with graham crackers.

We also had Milkshakes!

Caramel Popcorn Milkshake (Php195.00) – kids will surely enjoy this.  The popcorn really made it so Instagram worthy.

Smokey Maple Bacon Milkshake (Php195.00) – I never knew it could be a great pair.  I mean, the sweetness and savory flavor of Bacon goes pretty well.   I liked that I can taste some smoky bacon in there. Try this and I promise it will change the way you see it.

Overall, it was such a gastronomic dining experience.  I can say that the prices are value for money.  Staff were very accommodating and the food were all fantastic.  I highly recommend this if you’re in the area.  They currently have an ongoing promotion.  Check out their Facebook page for more information.
